Up and Coming Artists of 2024

Music grows everyday as the number of listeners globally increases, artists gain recognition and support, and new creative minds join the scene to express their thoughts and personalities with the world. With so many genres of music and rising musicians, we want to highlight 7 up and coming artists of 2024 that you should keep on your radar!

PopVRSE Princess on the Rise -  NIKI

From singing and posting her own songs on YouTube as a teenager to performing at three U.S. music festivals in the same week this year, 24 year-old pop R&B princess NIKI has been proving herself to be a rising name in pop music and the music scene as a whole.

At 15 years old, she sang as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s The Red Tour in Jakarta after winning Ride to Fame, a contest arranged by the ice cream brand, Walls, and Taylor Swift. History began when she officially became NIKI and signed to the record label 88rising in 2017 which has the mission to amplify Asian music artists and spread Asian culture around the globe.

Currently, NIKI has accumulated over 2.5 billion Spotify streams and is the most popular female Indonesian music artist on the platform. Her song “Every Summertime” featured in the 88rising-produced soundtrack of Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) was her first song to hit the Billboard charts, reaching #181 on the Billboard Global, Excluding US Chart released on February 5, 2022.

She has headlined the annual music festival created by 88rising, Head In The Clouds, since it launched in 2018. The Indonesian pop star has also graced her stage presence at Coachella last year, and Outside Lands and Lollapalooza both this past August.

With promising achievements like these, NIKI has begun making her mark on the world and will continue to rise and rise in the music scene in no time.

RockVRSE Artist to Keep on Your Radar - wave to earth

wave to earth is a Korean indie rock band that aims to “show music that makes a new wave.” Their main motto is being “all self-made” as all three band members directly record, mix, and master their music; they also directly take charge of the artistic direction of their work, including the video, fashion, and album art aspects.

Some of their accomplishments so far include charting #1 on a Spotify chart, performing at music festivals across Asia, and holding a sold-out North American tour this past fall–all three of these achievements happened this year alone. In April this year, the band released their first studio album “0.1 flaws and all” and the opening track of the album, “bad” hit #1 on Spotify’s “Viral 50 - Global” chart soon upon release.

The band spent their May as performing acts in two Asia-based music festivals: The Other Festival in Indonesia and the Seoul Jazz Festival. They were also in the lineup for the Seoul-based Pentaport Rock Festival in August.

Soon after that show, the band embarked on their sold out tour in the US and Canada, which was their first tour in North America. The trio played 20 dates in 18 different cities from August to September and continue to create new waves in music to stay tuned for.

IHipHopVRSE’s Rising Star - Doechii

So far, 2023 has been the biggest year for rapper singer-songwriter Doechii. At this year’s Billboard Women in Music award ceremony in March, the 25 year-old hip-hop icon was awarded the title of Rising Star, recognizing the artist’s growing popularity and potential to reach greater heights.

In addition to receiving this award, Doechii has also received nominations for other titles as well. This includes Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist at the GLAAD Media Awards, Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist at the BET Hip Hop Awards, and Best New Artist at the BET Awards.

Her hit song “What It Is (Block Boy)” featuring Kodak Black released in March of 2023 eventually debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 at #98 on the chart two months after release. Doechii has six different versions of the song out that are combinations of only her performing on the song, the Kodak Black feature, the song being slowed down, or sped up. In total, these versions of her song have accumulated almost 350,000,000 streams on Spotify.

In 2021, Doechii opened for SZA on her Good Days tour, and, this year, the artist was an opener for Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour, Doja Cat’s Scarlet Tour this year. With these accomplishments in this year alone, there is no doubt that 2024 will be another memorable year for the hip-hop sensation, as she continues achieving great things and maybe even has her own headlining tour.

LatinVRSE Sensation en Fuego - Fuerza Regida

Originating from San Bernadino, California, Fuerza Regida is a charting Mexican-American regional band that has the potential to be a worldwide phenomenon.

Their song “Bebe Dame” with Grupo Frontera reached #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January in 2023. The single also hit #1 on the Billboard US Hot Latin Songs and Mexico Songs charts the same month. In July, Fuerza Regida released the song “Sabor Fresa” which rose to #3 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, #16 on the Billboard Global 200 chart, and #26 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Two other singles of the band also hit the charts. Earlier in December, on the Spotify Top 50: Global chart, “Que Onda” with Calle 24 and Chino Pacas hit #27 and “Harley Quinn” with Marshmello charted at #26. Additionally, with “Harley Quinn,” the band’s lead vocalist, JOP, was brought out as a surprise guest at Marshmello’s recent show in Mexico City to perform this song live for the first time, giving an exhilarating performance that provides a glimpse into the hype of who Fuerza Regida is and what they can achieve.

K-PopVRSE Rookies of the Year - LE SSERAFIM

Since debuting their music career in May last year, the 5 girls who make up LE SSERAFIM have been receiving numerous achievements and gaining worldwide recognition from their talents and jaw-dropping performances. Hailing from the same record label as well-known music groups like BTS and NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM has been showcasing themselves to be musical forces to be reckoned with.

Last year, they received best rookie artist nominations from various Korean award ceremonies, and won Best Musician at the Asia Artist Awards and Favorite New Artist at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. This year, they have risen to not only receive more rookie awards, but to be nominees in higher-level categories. This includes Artist of the Year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, and, for the Mel0n Music Awards, they were nominated for Album of the Year and Song of the Year. To note, these Korean award ceremonies are like the Grammys in the world of Korean music.

Also this year, their Antifragile and Unforgiven albums were million-certified in the Circle Chart, an official South Korean music chart that tracks the sales performance of songs and albums. The Fimmies (as fans call them) have been continuously proving themselves to be idols to keep on everyone’s music radar.

CountryVRSE Artist to Stay Tuned For - Warren Zeiders

Warren Zeiders is a rising star in the country genre who co-writes and sings original songs and whose songs have been charted since he started his music career in 2021.

After signing with Warner Records, he re-released his single “Ride the Lightning” which debuted at #30 on Billboard Hot Country Songs chart the same year. The song has also been platinum-certified in Canada and the US.

In summer of 2022, Zeiders performed on the Grand Ole Opry show for the first time which is a weekly live radio broadcast for country music based in Nashville, Tennessee. The show also has performances by country artists several nights a week and is like a rite of passage–if you’re invited to perform, you know you’ve made it in the realm of country music. The country singer performed on the show this past summer, as well.

Also, in this summer, Warren released his debut album Pretty Little Poison and, recently, the title track broke into Top 40 on the Mediabase Country Airplay Chart, Top 25 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart, and debuted at #86 on Billboard’s Hot 100. In the first quarter of next year, he’s set to promote the album in his soon-to-be sold out Pretty Little Poison tour with shows across US and Canada.

Warren Zeiders has amassed over 1 billion audio streams worldwide and over 1 billion TikTok views, proving that he is a country icon to follow and add to your playlists.

Rising EDMVRSE Phenomenon - Knock2

Knock2 has been shining in potential since he was a young teenager with small gigs at the county fair and weddings. This year, he has performed at two music festivals and rocked 4 sold-out shows in November at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

His first DJ gig was playing remixes at the San Diego County Fair when he was around 15 years old. When he was 16 years old, he started DJing at weddings and clubs, even though he was not himself at the legal age for club entry.

Fast forward to May this year, Knock2, whose real name is Richard Nakhonethap, had a mind-blowing set at 88rising’s first Head in the Clouds festival hosted in New York City. In August, Nakhonethap gave the same thrilling energy to his Lollapalooza and Hard Summer stages.

He hosted his own shows this past November with fellow DJ artist, ISOxo, originally only planning to have 1 show at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. However, since fans were so hyped about this show, they added 3 additional shows–all 4 being sold out.

Being the first electronic dance artist signed to 88rising, there is no doubt that Knock2 will keep achieving amazing firsts and moments for the history books, such as his first festival headline this June at Electric Forest.
