Girl group LE SSERAFIM is back with a new comeback! The group released their first studio album UNFORGIVEN on May 1st. The 13-track album includes 2023 versions of songs "The World Is My Oyster," "FEARLESS," and "Blue Flame" from their debut mini-album FEARLESS, as well as completely new songs such as "Burn the Bridge," title track "UNFORGIVEN," "No-Return (Into the unknown)," "Eve, Psyche, & The Bluebeard's wife," "FEARNOT (Between you, me, and the lamppost)," "Flash Forward," and "Fire in the belly."
UNFORGIVEN had a lot of excitement surrounding it, especially when news broke out that legendary producer Nile Rodgers was involved with the title track "UNFORGIVEN." Rodgers has previously worked on songs like Madonna's "Like a Virgin," Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," David Bowie's "Let's Dance," and many more! LE SSERAFIM fans began speculating all the way back in January and February when Rodgers began following the members on Instagram and posted a story and TikTok of him with HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk.
Rodger's feature wasn't officially confirmed until UNFORGIVEN's tracklist was released and he was shown to be credited on the track. On April 18th, the official LE SSERAFIM Youtube account posted a video of Chaewon, Sakura, Yunjin, Eunchae, and Kazuha in a Zoom call with Rodgers where they talked a little about "UNFORGIVEN" and reacted to a snippet!
Since their debut with "FEARLESS," LE SSERAFIM has been following the themes of confidence, resilience, and defiance in their music, and "UNFORGIVEN" is no different. The song is about "how regardless of what people think, or regardless of people’s prejudices, [LE SSERAFIM is] going to conquer." With lyrics like "Unforgiven, I'm a villain, I'm a / It'll be remembered as a new era, unforgiven," and, "Lighting up the dark, like a rebellion
We gonna kick it, break it, rules gon' give up," LE SSERAFIM is once again making a strong statement. In an interview with Teen Vogue, member Chaewon said, "It is such an honor to be active and promoting [in] an era where girl groups are getting a lot of attention. We want to keep telling our own stories going forward and [becoming] good influences.”
