Ariana Grande Scores Sixth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘Eternal Sunshine’
Ariana Grande has once again proven her chart-topping prowess with her latest album, Eternal Sunshine, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album, released on March 8, earned 227,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, making it the largest week for any album in 2024 so far.
This marks Ariana's sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, following Positions (2020), Thank U, Next (2019), Sweetener (2018), My Everything (2014), and Yours Truly (2013). Eternal Sunshine's success was fueled by its availability in various formats, including vinyl, CD, and digital downloads, as well as the popularity of its lead single, "Yes, And?," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The album's first-week sales were supported by strong vinyl sales, with Ariana's largest week on vinyl ever, surpassing the first-week sales of Positions. Additionally, the album's availability in multiple physical configurations and digital formats, including a "slightly deluxe" edition with bonus tracks, contributed to its impressive debut.
Ariana announced the album on January 17 and promoted its release with appearances on NBC's Saturday Night Live and at the Academy Awards. Eternal Sunshine's success reflects Ariana's continued popularity and ability to connect with audiences through her music.
On the new Billboard 200 chart, Eternal Sunshine displaces Morgan Wallen's One Thing at a Time from the top spot, while other former No. 1 albums like Noah Kahan's Stick Season, Ye and Ty Dolla $ign's Vultures 1, and SZA's SOS round out the top five.
Ariana's latest achievement adds to her already impressive career, solidifying her status as one of the most successful artists in modern music. With Eternal Sunshine, she continues to captivate audiences and dominate the charts with her unique blend of pop and R&B sounds.
